ADOPTION

 
  Adoption can be of a child by a married couple or a step parent adopting his or her spouse's child. You can adopt if you are a single person or divorced. Whatever your culture, religion, financial standing or sexuality you are still eligible to apply to adopt a child. More information on www.baaf.org.uk.
Social Workers are involved to prepare a report on the suitability of the adoptive parents and application is then made to the Court to grant the order.
Children can be freed for adoption via the Court and sometimes the natural parent does not want that to happen and becomes involved in the legal proceedings.
